PANAJI: Even when Goa is among the ten states and the United States with the lowest school dropout at the secondary school level, in class IX and X, the percentage of boys who drop out of school almost doubled.
The Ministry of Education of the Union has recently revealed this in the Integrated District Information System Report for Education (U-DISE) for 2019-20.
At the level of IX-X class, 12.8% of boys have provided school education in the state, compared to 7.2% of girls.
The dropout rate is almost zero to class VIII, until the class where the policy does not fail.
In Goa, the dropout tariff is always higher for boys, with education quoting that initial employment opportunities provided by sectors such as tourism and mining are in a factor.
However, the thin gap between the rate of dropout for boys and girls dumped by U-Dise reports is concern.
The gap is equally wide in terms of repeating the class.
Here too, boys twice as possible fail and repeat classes in class IX and X.
The rate of repetition for boys is 9.4%, which almost doubled the numbers for girls, by 5.4%.
When compared to the states and other union regions, students in Goa are more likely to repeat the class than drop out of school.
The national average repetition rate for students from both sexes in class IX and X is 2.8%, while the average cave stands at 7.5%.
However, in the case of dropout rates, 10% cave averages are far better than 16% national.
In the past, the former Chairman of the State Council of Jose Remedios Rebello has noted to express his concern in school, especially urban areas, holding students at the class IX level.
It is believed that some of the Institutes practice this to record a better percentage of graduation on class X public examinations DISE for 2019-20.
