Chandigarh: Satya Pal Jain, an additional lawyer General India has said that time has arrived when in addition to English, Hindi and Punjabi must also be used as the official language of the Punjab High Court and Haryana and subordinate trials.
He said that as a fact in all high courts, the regional language of the region must also be the official language of the high court concerned.
He said that he would immediately take this problem with the authority who cared too.
Jain spoke as the main guest, in the first function of Chandigarh Law College in Jhanjheri Village near Chandigarh.

He said that poor people would be able to put up their cases and make submissions in their respective mothers or regional languages, rather than in English.
He said that he did not oppose English as a court language that might be allowed to continue but sentiment and point of view can be expressed by ordinary people, more in maternal and regional language more effective than in other languages.

Jain, who is also a former member of Parliament from Chandigarh, said that it has been determined by various studies by experts that for everyone, mother tongue is the best language to fully and comprehensively express its perspective.
In many high courts, regional languages have also been introduced as the official language of the High Court.
Among other things, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, Chair, Arsh Dhaliwal, Deputy Chair and Manpreet Vewal, Principal of the College was also present on that occasion.
