Panaji: While July 13 is likely to go down in the record as one of the days of this season, a tragedy – the collapse of the Panaji City Panaji City building – which occurred on the same day in 1954, still haunted him.
Around noon, an impressive extension of a building called Camara Municipal de Goa, accommodating the administration of the city and standing at the Horta Ribeiro Park, coming to fall, causing panic in the city.
Three people who were in a newer attachment were built trapped in debris and died.
The fourth is injured critically.
Three people died when part of the city building collapsed, “I returned from school in Fontainhas and saw dust in the air and the commotion under the Panaji Church,” said Angle Millind, a Septuagenarian.
His residence is located in a building along Atmaram Borkar Road and the building lay along the route to school.
The main building, which has been built for years before the tragedy, stands firm.
The Portuguese governor rushed to the place and oversaw rescue operations and worked to clean the debris.
“I testify about this rescue operation and I can see hard workers in their duties,” Angle said.
Social media are flooded with tragedies that occur almost seven decades of return.
“One of my kin, who was in the building, was killed in the accident.
My father narrowly fled, when he returned home after delivering his lunch,” members of the group posted.
The original building, which is strong, has a spacious room that is well used to hold various events.
But the Portuguese destroyed the structure, remembering public safety.
