Panaji: For the second day, Goa reported a sharp increase in the Covid case.
The level of state infectivity soared to 5.25% which was 4% the day before.
170 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the calculation of active cases to 657.
For the past three days, the state has recorded 349 fresh infections.

Utkarsh Betodar said that if the increase is currently driven by the Omicron variant, the state can expect sharper growth.
“It is difficult to predict based on the level of infection for the past three days.
However, if the increase is because Omicron, we will have more growth than what we have because of the Delta variant,” Betodkar said.
The Delta variant causes a second wave of pandemic, and Goa is one of the worst countries, with the highest level of infectivity above 50% in May.
The results of the majority of samples sent for genomic sequencing to the laboratory have not been received.
