Amritsar: A Nanakpanthi Hindu based in Moscow (followers of Teacher Nanak Dev) has claimed that the Taliban had eliminated ‘Nishan Sahib’, Sikh’s religious flag, from Gurdwara Thala Sahib in Choceni in Afghanistan.
When talking to Toi by telephone from Moscow on Friday, Iqbal Singh (name changed) was informed that Nishan Sahib was installed on the roof of Gurdwara.
The Taliban previously warned local caregivers of Gurdwara to remove Nishan Sahib and when he refused to follow their orders, they threatened him with life.
“A day ago a group of Taliban militias came to Gurdwara and forcibly moved Nishan Sahib and threw the same around Gurdwara,” he said.
A Sikh Nidan Singh who has migrated to India said that caregivers Gurdwara Thala Sahib asked to seek guidance in connection with Nishan Sahib left behind.
“The caregiver was told to tie Nishan Sahib to the tree and ensure that no one showed a disrespect to Nishan Sahib” he added.
Puneeet Singh, President of the World Forum India claimed that he had confirmed the elimination of Nishan Sahib through several sources.
Moscow-based sources informed that with a surge in Taliban, all Sikh and Hindu people living in the area have migrated to a safe place and now they have begun to tarnish our religious places.
The source itself has migrated to Moscow to save himself and his family from the Taliban wrath.
Gurnam Singh President Gurdwara Karte Parwan, Kabul told that with the progress of the Taliban, the Afghan government had provided security to six Gurdwaras and one Hindu Temple Kabul.
Meanwhile, President of the Parbandhak Committee Shiromani Gurdwara, Aunt Jagir Kaur has condemned the incident.
He said SGPC had appealed to the central government to ensure Sikh’s security and Sikh religious places in Afghanistan.
