Foreign-funded terror module is damaged: Police

PATIALA: Police Sangrur has claimed to have solved the forundfunded terror module and eliminated the target of murder in Punjab with the arrest of one person and recovery of guns and ammunition.
The police identified the man who was arrested as Lakhveer Singh aka Lakha, 34, from Khayi Village in Sangrur and seized Bore’s weapons and ammunition from Him based on the input provided by state intelligence agencies.
Punjab Police Chief DGP Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota said Lakha, who worked as a mason in Lehra, was motivated by pro-Khalistan elements abroad to commit target murder in the state and to carry out attacks on religious places.
He added that Lakha is a very radicalized and motivated individual.
He was also captivated by cash deposited from abroad, and investigations revealed that various digital platforms were used for money transactions in terror-funded cases.
Lakha received three installments in his account from New Delhi, Moga and Khanna.
The police, while tracing these transactions, identified two individuals, including one of Vancouver in Canada and the other from Poland, which was said to be the mastermind and fund provider for this module.
“The people involved in depositing cash in the Lakhveer Singh account have been identified and further investigation into this ongoing,” said Sangrur Ssp Schapan Sharma.
Sukhjit Singh aka Sukhi from Moonak provides Lakha with a pistol and Countrymade Ammunition .32 Bore, he added.
“Sukhjit was previously involved in smuggling illegal weapons from above.
The case under ACT ACT has been registered at the TRIPURI PATIALA police station.
Investigations are being carried out by a special investigation team headed by police supervisors (detective), Sangrur, to look into the modus operandi, relationships And the possibility of the target of this terror operator, “SSP added.
Police said the defendant was married and had two children.
The police claimed a registered case on October 8, while the defendant was accused of Monday from the brick kiln and then the weapon recovered from him after interrogation.
The police added that Rs 1.5 lakh recovered from the defendant, while further financial investigation was underway.
