Foreign tourists do not push omicron numbers in Assam

Guwahati: Foreign tourists do not have a role in pushing the third wave of omicron induced in Assam, said the source of the state health department, only about 2? or 118 of 5,458 foreign travelers testing positive covid after arriving in the state in the past two months.
Only 32 of them are positive omicron until January 31, follow the original genomic sequencing.
“There is no certainty that foreign travelers carry omicron variants to them to Assam and Northeast.
Most foreign returns test positive Covid on eighth day remains in isolation.
Many of them may be infected while in Assam,” a senior official of the state health department Tell the Toi on Saturday.
“The majority of the 83 cases of omicrons found in the state until now are detected during the search for people.
Although some of them have a history of travel domestically, foreign travelers are not the main carrier of the virus,” officially added, blaming a possible transformation of variants locally.
When new restrictions for foreign tourists it cannot be imposed in the state in the near future, the number of foreign travelers can rise.
But the trend in the first week of February slightly discouraged.
The number of foreign refugees might be plummmet in the next few days because only 36 foreign travelers have entered the country in the last five days (from 1 to 5 February), although only two have tested positive covids.
“Because the number of Covid cases dropped significantly at Assam, the number of positive cases among foreign tourists also declined.
But it might take longer to recover from damage caused by perceptions in the minds of international tourists,” the official was said.
There has been an uneven decline in the number of foreign tourists to Assam since mid-December last year, when Omicron has set alarm bells that rings in the country.
Government sources say this has been about sectors such as tourism in the northeastern state such as Assam, who expects a large number of foreigners in December and January.
