Forest cover: Take advantage of carbon funds, said Niti Aayog

Hyderabad: Seeing the Initiative to Improving Green Cover Telangana, Niti Aayog officials have asked the state to use carbon financing to further increase the tree cover.
The suggestion came when the country was ranked second in the country after Andhra Pradesh in the increase in forest cover.
The source said Haritha Harith Telangana program to increase green cover has been highly praised during a recent meeting in Delhi.
“The state must see more ways to use carbon financing because many countries, such as Switzerland, are willing to fund this activity as a grant in countries that have shown a significant increase in green cover,” said the government’s source for development.
Carbon Funds help Nations finance forest conservation and reduce the effects of climate change from forest degradation.
Many large world companies support carbon financing to overcome the purpose of greater global warming.
Haritha Haram is billed as the largest driving force in the country and third in the world after China and Brazil.
State government officials were in Delhi a few days ago to discuss and seek funds for the district retreat in the state.
“During the discussion, officials said that many countries did not comply with various parameters to receive funds, even with their great efforts did not meet the requirements but Telangana did it, which was very large for us,” said a high-ranking official.
Deputy Chairperson of the State Planning Board B Vinod Kumar said that Niti Aayog officials had acknowledged the effort and had asked the government to intensify the program.
“Telangana consistently works to increase green cover, forest cover, and greenery since its establishment in 2014,” he added.
