Forest Fairabad: Basalt column aged 6.5 cr was found

Hyderabad: The basal column is rare, estimated to be more than 6.5 years old years old, discovered by a group of historical fans in the Hatnur bazaar forest in Batuanabad district in Telangana.
Geologists said that the Basal column was formed in the Highlands Deccan due to a volcanic eruption of around 65 million years ago.
The rock formation was found in the south and southeast of Telangana in Rangeddy, Medak, Nizamabad and the Adilabad District.
Charitra group members Kottta Telangana reported that the ‘Basalt column’ was found in reserve forests in Adamanabad.
HARAWAN Sriramoju Haragopal said, “Similar formations were found earlier in Kolhapur in Maharashtra.
DECCAN traps are one of the most significant volcanic features on earth.
Basaltic rocks consist of polygon patterns and column connections.
There are 6.5 years of crore.” Former Deputy Director General, Indian Geological Survey, Chakilam Venugopal said: “The thick stack of volcanic currents, widespread on the west coast and the deccan highlands, commonly known as the deccan trap.
This trap, spreads as a thin lava sheet that erupts from the gap, happens as a mountain Flat in all the State of Maharashtra, part of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka and Telangana.
Go to the western and central part of the main mass of DECCAN, the flow is thick and quickly erupted.
In the south margin and the eastern suburbs, they lack the amount and not erupted quickly, Enables the formation of Inter Trappean.
“This lava flows, in places, developing cracks Pol Igonal at the compaction stage and the cracks are vertically extended, forming a column that is formed in ultimately exposed to weathering, resulting in unique patterned columnar patterns to the area.
The basal columnar sometimes appears as a man-made feature because of the impressive columnar pattern.
In India, the basalum of columnars is known to occur on St Mary’s Island (Udipi, Karnataka), Andham (Mumbai) and Kolhapur (both in Maharashtra).
Basalt Columnar from St Mary Island has been declared a national geological monument.
“The Southeast Margin of Trap Deccan extends to Telangana along the border of Maharashtra.
However, Basalt Columnar is unknown in this area.
The Basalt Columnar recorded from Adilabad seems to be a new record,” Venugopal said.
