Coimbatore: The Ministry of Forestry on Friday provides training to more than 50 frontline staff members on how to improve the camera trap in the reserve forest as part of the Indian Tiger estimation – 2021-22.
The training took place at the Forest District Office (DFO) in Mettupalayam Road.
Trained staff will improve the 220 camera trap in seven forest ranges in the Forest Division of Coimbatore.
Camera traps will help identify tigers in the reserve forest.
The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) estimates the Indian Tiger once in four years to calculate the number of tigers throughout the country.
“We have identified 110 locations in Madukkarai, Boluvampatti, Coimbatore, PeriyanenickenPalayam, Karamadai, Mettupalayam, and sirumugai forests range to improve the 220-camera trap Forest, Forest Division Coimbatore, M Senthilkumar said.
“Frontline staff will remove camera traps after 40-45 days.
Records will be downloaded and verified to check the existence of tigers in the Coimbatore Forest Division.
This camera trap will also help identify various types of carnivores and habitats In the backup forest, “he added.
The camera trap was brought to the Forest Division of Coimbatore from Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR).
