Bengaluru: Former Director of Microsoft Ventures and Angel Investors Mukund Mohan was sentenced to two years in prison in the US because of conducting a scheme to cheat to obtain a Covid-19 disaster relief loan.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $ 100,000 and $ 1,786,357 in the restitution, the US Department of Justice said.
Mohan pleaded guilty of wire fraud and money laundering regarding his scheme to get more than $ 5.5 million in a loan Program Protection Paycheck (PPP) and washing outcomes.
Mohan studied computer science at Mysore University and rose to become a technical director in Microsoft in the US before playing entrepreneurship.
He worked in Bengaluru for several years during his Microsoft Stints.
