Coimbatore: The Branch Police of the City Crime arrested the former son-in-law of Mla Kovai Thangam B Arun Prakash, 41, from the layout of Ganatapati in Saibaba Colony, here on Tuesday because of deceiving a man Rs 1.5 Crore.
He was submitted in Avinashi Sub-prison under Judicial custody.
An investigative officer said Arun was involved in real estate, hotels and other businesses.
“We arrested him based on the complaint submitted by Senguttuvan, a resident of Sasi Avenue in Sitra, who stated that Arun had taken Rs 1.5 Crore from him to buy tea plantations in Valparai by promising his personality.” When Senguttuvan knew that Arun did not use the money to buy tea plantations, the officer said, he asked the son-in-law of Kovai Thangam to return the number.
“While Arun has issued it in number, they are returned, because there is not enough cash in a bank account.” Based on Senguttuvan complaints, the city crime branch police registered a case against Arun below Section 420 from the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) and the team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police T Parteepan arrested him on Tuesday.
Arun is produced before Judicial Judge, who returns it in court custody.
The officer said Senguttuvan’s daughter, Sindhuja 33 years old previously submitted a complaint to the All-Woman (East) police against Arun and two feet for deceiving him from Crore Rs 7 and threatened him with terrible consequences.

In this case, the police have ordered the trio below 323 (punishment because voluntarily causing injury), 417 (punishment for cheating) and 506 (II) (criminal intimidation) IPC and arrest them.
