Bhubaneswar: Former Tamil Nadu DGP Jalada Kumar Tripathy has been appointed as Head of State Information Commissioner (CIC), a government notice issued on Thursday.
The post lay empty after Sunil Mishra retired on August 15.
Tripathy said he would comment on the new role after officially taking over the cost.
Government sources said he would likely take an oath in the first week of October.
1985-Batch Cadre Tamil Nadu, Tripathy has a famous career of three decades in the police before he retired as Tamil Nadu police chief in June.
Born in a village near the Salipur in the Cuttack district, Tripathy completed his graduation in political science from the intent of GM College, Sambalpur, and MA from Jawaharlal University Nehru.
He briefly worked as an Indian information service officer before making it to IPS.
Tripathy received several awards.
Previously, the selection committee, chaired by the head of the head of Naveen Patnaik, has agreed to the name Tripathy for that role on Tuesday and sent for the approval of Governor Ganeshi Lal.
