Former South African leader Zuma surrendered for a period of prison

Nkandla: Former South African President Jacob Zuma turned himself to the police on Wednesday to start 15 months in prison for the insults of the court, the peak of a long legal drama was seen as a post-apartheid state ability exam to enforce the rule of law.
Police spokesman Lirandzu Themba was confirmed in a statement that Zuma was in police custody, in accordance with the assessment of the Constitutional Court.
The correctional service department said in a separate statement that Zuma was accepted at the Estcourt Penitentiary Center, around 175 km (108 miles) from the Homestead of the countryside in Nkandla in East South Africa.

The court gave Zuma majoring in prison 15 months ago because of opposing previous instructions in February to provide evidence on corrupt investigations for nine years in power until 2018.
The question was led by Deputy Chairman of the Judge Raymond Zondo.
The police had been ordered to arrest Zuma at the end of Wednesday if he failed to appear at the police station.
Hundreds of supporters, some of them armed with weapons, spears and shields, had gathered nearby at the guesthouse to try to prevent his arrest.
But in the end, the 79-year-old Zuma decided to go calmly.
“President Zuma has decided to obey the order of detention,” his foundation, the first time the Zuma camp has demonstrated willingness to cooperate with the court.
It was an extraordinary fall for a respected veteran from the African National Congress Liberation Movement, which was imprisoned by the South African white minority ruler for his part in his struggle to make everyone equivalent to the law.
Zuma denied that there was corruption that was widespread under his leadership and he had scored challenging records on Sunday, attacking the judges and launching a legal challenge for his arrest.
His lawyer asked the Constitutional Court on Wednesday to suspend his order to the police to arrest him at midnight while waiting for the results of his challenge to prison sentences.
Zuma gave up on pressure to stop and surrendered at this time – President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2018.
He has since faced a question of allegations of corruption originating from his time as president and before.
The Zondo commission was checking allegations that he allowed three entrepreneurs born in India, Atul, Ajay and Rajesh Gupta, to loot state resources and influence of traffic on government policy.
He and Gupta Brothers, who fled to Dubai after Zuma was overthrown, denied the mistake.
Zuma also faced a separate court case relating to the $ 2 billion weapon agreement in 1999 when he was the vice president.
He denied the accusation.
The former president maintained that he was a victim of the hunt for political magicians and that Zondo could be against him.
