LONDON: Former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Monday urged the UN climate summit in Glasgow to take the steps needed to cut carbon emissions and adapt to climate change, by saying the conference “failed.” “COP26 can’t be more important, because the reality is that we have failed, we have failed the world and we have failed the most vulnerable community that lives on the front line,” said the tire in a pre-record message to COP26 loss of adaptation and the event of the Minister of Damage Day.
After emphasizing that the most vulnerable countries “have brought a burden from the climate crisis that accelerates us,” the former head of the United Nations said that the government had to give the ecological threat of the same response as the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We cannot continue the business as usual,” he said, adding that world leaders must convince young people who accuse them not to act with a sense of climate emergency urgency demanding that there are no empty promises.
Tires also praised England to make adaptation as a priority for COP26, after the announcement by International Trade Minister Anne-Marie Trevelly that London will allocate 290 million pounds ($ 391 million) to support the impact of global warming.
The United Kingdom is currently holding a UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) which focuses on increasing international efforts in achieving the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
At the top, the parties are expected to pass several agreements to reduce greenhouse emissions and achieve carbon neutrality.
