Noida: The former 65-year-old village head was shot dead by unknown people at Uttar Pradesh Greater Noida on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The defendant was on a motorcycle when they intercepted Nanhu Singh, former Head of Nainsukh Village, alone on agricultural land in the Dadri area, the police said.
While the identity of the defendant has not been confirmed, the Deputy Commissioner of the Supplementary Police (Greater Noida) Visal Pandey said the police team had been formed and investigated.
“After the main probe, it revealed that Singh had a dispute with several people and it could also be the reason behind the murder.
However, all corners are being examined in this case and further action will be taken,” Pandey) is said.
“Forensic experts, technical experts have also associated in an investigation into the initial breakthrough in this case,” he added.
Given the tension triggered due to daylight murder, the police have been deployed inside and around the village, according to officials.
The body has been sent for postmortem and further legal processes ongoing, added the police.
