Thiruvananthapuram: A total of four fishermen died and several other people were injured when two vans collided on national highways in Kollam District in the early days of Tuesday.
The deceased and injured were studied to become fishermen who came from coastal villages in Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercil and Kanyakumari Regency in Tamil Nadu.
Police Chavara identified the deceased as Burkuman, 47, from Pulluvila, Justin, 48, from Vizhinjam, Karunownam, 59, from Pulluvila and Biju, 38, from TN.
They are part of a group of 34 members traveling in a minibus to Beypore in Kozhikode to join the fishing crew.
The police said the accident occurred at around 12:30 a.m.

A isolated van traveling in the opposite direction was allegedly lost on the wrong track and brushed the minibus.
The van will go to Neendakara carrying frozen fish.
In the impact of the collision, the minibus changed the direction and crashed into the bus before it was reversed.

Among the injured, six were shifted to the Medical College Hospital Thiruvananthapuram.
