Four die in Tamil Nadu ; Mettur is almost full

CHENNAI: Heavy rains continued to pound the state on Monday, inundating several acres of rice in the Cauvery delta districts, filling Mettur dam close to the full level, and triggered landslides in the Western Ghats.
Some low-lying areas submerged.
Four people were killed in rain-related incidents and more than 60 houses were damaged, authorities said.
As the water level reaches 118ft of total120ft in Mettur dam, flood warning sounded for the villages along the river Cauvery in 12 districts downstream.
PWD officials have decided to release 30,000 cusecs of water level of the dam once reaches 120ft.
Long night rain caused landslides in the ghat section of the Erode district as large boulders and fallen trees blocked Bargur-Anthiyur ghat road on Monday, halting Tamil Nadu-Karnataka interstate traffic.
