New Delhi: Institute of Indian Technology (IITS) in Delhi, Madras, Bath and Indore received a new director on Monday, according to officials.
While Professor Iit-Bombayan Banerjee’s constituits have been appointed as the next director of IIT-Delhi, Professor Iit-Madras V Kamakoti has been appointed as the Director of the Institute, they said.
Kamakoti designed the first advanced ‘Shakti’ microprocessor.
Laxmidhar Behera, professor of electrical engineering in Iit-Kanpur, has been appointed as Director of IIT-Bath and Suhas Joshi, professor of Mechanical Engineering and Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relations in Iit-Bombay, has been appointed as the next IIT-INDORE director, officials said.
Ranjan Banerjee, a professor of the Marshall Forbes seat in Iit Bombay, is a B.Tech (mechanical) of the same institute.
Then, he obtained a PhD (Mechanical Engineering) degree, also from IIT Bombay.

An alumni of IIT Madras, V Kamakoto, is currently the Association Dean for Industrial Consultation and Sponsored Research (ICSR), IIT Madras.
He is also a member of the National Security Advisory Board, Indian Government.
Kamakoti, who is a faculty in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, leads the research team that designs and boots the first advanced microprocessor microprocessor that can be used in cellular computing devices and network systems.

The newly appointed IIT IIT Director, Laxmidhar Behera is currently associated with the electrical engineering department as a professor in control and automation specialization.
He heads smart systems and control laboratories in IIT Kanpur and extensively focusing on developing automation solutions for industrial and domestic problems.
Suhas Joshi, who has been appointed as IIT Indore Director is a fellow Indian National Engineering Academy, and the National Science Academy.
He worked on increasing productivity and the quality of multi-scale machining processes through physics-based modeling and characterization.
Joshi works as a post-doctoral researcher at Georgia Tech., USA (2002) and served as a faculty of visits at Illinois University, Urbana-Champaign, USA (2005-06).
He also the head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT Bombay for 2014-17.
