PATNA: Four people were killed and at least 14 others were injured after a bus in which they were travelling was rammed by a truck from behind near Blue sky restaurant on NH-28 under Panapur Minapur police outpost in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar at around 4am on Friday.
Outpost in-charge Arvind Paswan said the bus carrying more than 60 persons of a marriage party was coming from Motihari and was scheduled to reach Gaighat in Muzaffarpur.
“However, it had to stop roadside near the restaurant after a tyre got punctured .
It was at this time that a truck coming from behind at high speed rammed the stationary bus killing four of its passengers on the spot,” he said.
Paswan said that the truck was loaded with potatoes and its driver and co-driver fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle after the accident.
He said the slain persons have been identified as Ramesh Tiwari (60), Abhinav Kumar alias Sonu (18), Mukund Kunwar (47), all hailing from Jarang Janak Singh tola under Gaighat police station area of Muzaffarpur.
“The fourth passenger who was killed is one Dharmendra Kumar (52).
He hailed from Dubha village under Sakra police station area of Muzaffarpur,” Paswan said.
The in-charge said that at least 14 passengers of the bus were injured in the accident who were rushed to hospital and were stable.
“Bodies have been handed over to family members after post-mortem.
District administration has also disbursed Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia to kin of each of the slain persons,” he added.
