Gurugram: Preparing for Swachh Survekshan 2022, Corporation of the City of Commissioner Gurugram (MCG) on Friday directing the Ecogreen waste concession holder to establish four material recovery facilities, one in each city zone.
Commissioner MCG Mukesh Kumar Ahuja also directs corporate officials to accelerate work providing land to ecogreen for facilities.
According to the rules of solid waste management, 2016, local authorities must regulate the material recovery facility or secondary storage facilities, where waste collected from households will be separated further and various recycled waste components recover from it to recycle or resale.
This will allow informal or official waste collectors to separate and collect recycled materials such as paper, plastic, metal, glass and textiles from garbage.
The city already has four waste collection centers, where wet and dry waste is thrown into a separate conveyor belt to get rid of recyclable waste.
“We will prepare facilities as soon as we get land from MCG.
The waste collected will be separated, the compost and the production of produced will be sent to bandhwari from MRF to be processed further,” said Sanjay Sharma, Deputy CEO, Ecogreen.
Ahuja led a meeting with MCG and Ecogreen officials on Friday, where he also directed them to ensure that there was no mixed waste collected from any household.
The Commissioner said if there were residents who gave mixed waste, the waste collector must give it time to separate it and accept it only after the separation was made.
MCG began collecting garbage collections in the city from Thursday.
In addition, the MCG head directed officials to reform the secondary collection points.
The city has 20 secondary waste collection points, which will soon have a limit wall, separate entry point and out and cabin for the MCG enforcement team.
