Four people were found to be shot dead on Wednesday at a house on the outskirts of Vancouver Richmond, and Canada police launched the probe of murder.
The identity of the victims was not released but they believed to have known each other, said the local police.
The investigator said early evidence showed that it was a “targeted shooting” in the environment that was usually calm, but the police did not believe the murder was connected with gang violence in the region.
The police said his officers were called to the location on Tuesday and that the victims were likely to die on Monday night.
The investigation was in the early stages, police added.
“This is a traumatic incident of the community wake up,” said David Lee from the murder investigation team in a statement.
Homicides related to firearms in Canada continued to increase, reaching 277 by 2020, according to government statistics.
Since 2013, the murder of gangs in Canadian’s biggest cities almost doubled.
