Ludhiana: City corporate officials drives demolition in the city on Friday where four shops, parts of the building and several illegal huts are excavated.
Officials go beyond 25 illegal Shanties opposite Cinema Chand, which is the site for installation of static compactors.
They face hatred when the hut occupants say they are removed during the rainy season.
Residents tried to oppose the drive, but because the presence of the police could not do anything.
However, officials claimed that they had been given a flat in Giaspura, but did not go there.
In this case, residents claim that they work in the city and it is impossible for them to come from Giaspura every day.
“We destroyed the huts from government land and parked in front of a building on a circular road.
Building owners have penetrated the way,” said Mohan Singh, the City Assistant Planner.
MC officials also destroyed four stores under construction, three at BRS Nagar and one in the Ghumar bath.
They say construction of shops and commercial activities are not allowed in residential areas.
