Mangaluru: City police have arrested four people in connection with the robbery of gas station managers who took place near Saraswat Bank in Chilimbi here on September 28.
The defendant was Shayam Shankar, Abhishek, Karthik and Sagar.
Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar on Tuesday said Shyam Shankar’s main allegations also worked at the Ashirvad gas station in Mannagudda where the victim Bhojappa worked as a manager.
“He knew the manager deposited a daily collection of gasoline pumps in Saraswat Bank.
He along with three of his friends hatched plans to seize him.
They first discussed plans in Shakshinagar on September 13 and recorded a route before implementing their plans.
They first planned to rob it at 26 September but did not execute because of unfavorable conditions.
Two days later they succeeded, “he said.
Bhojappa suffered a serious injury on his head and his ears when he fell after being passed by the robber which was transmitted by a bicycle.
After the incident, the defendant fled to Mumbai where they spent money looted on electronic gadgets and others.
The police can only recover Rs 60,000 from the stolen 4.2 lakh Rs and two two-wheeled ones used in crime.
Shyam Shankar, Abhishek and Karthik have several cases for murder, efforts to kill, riots, extortion, NDPS actions and others delayed against them in various police stations.
