Rajkot: Four people were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly preparing fake documents to register a marriage between one of the charges and a woman from another faith, who had married running from Palitana Bhavnagar a month ago.
Element has produced massive anger with the right-wing organization such as Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) that accuses ‘love jihad’.
However, the woman told the police in her statement that she had gone alone with Zakir Haroon Saiyyed and not under coercion.
The couple also returned to Palitana after getting their marriage registered in Delhi.
However, an investigation by local crime branches (LCB) revealed the involvement of more people, including three of Delhi, which made fake documents for marriage, the police with Zakir was arrested by Khan Pathhan, Habib Khan Pathan and Aftab aka Altaf Sheikh, all of which had been ordered under the relevant IPC section related to counterfeiting and criminal conspiracy.
The police also ordered Mohammed Qadri, native Palitana and three others – Nitu, Anup Singh and Rajesh – who facilitated documentation in Delhi for the purpose of ‘nikahnama’.on December 25, VHP also gave a call to the bandh of the incident.
N Jadeja, police sub-inspector, LCB, said the couple first went to the letter and then to Delhi, where they got a registered marriage.
