Coimbatore: Four people were arrested in Irugur in early Friday due to 305kg smuggling tobacco products were banned from Bengaluru.
Santanallur police identified allegations such as L Mullaram and L Govind, both of which were 28 years old and natives from Rajasthan, and G Vasudevan aged 65 years and 35 years P Thilakraj, both residents Ganapatati in the city.
While the duo from Rajasthan goes into the business of tobacco products in Bengaluru, Vasudevan is their local supplier.
“Thungraj is a driver,” said a police officer.
The officer said the police Saranlatur, who was patrolling in the Ginning Factory Road in Irugur around 1am that day, had collected four member gangs based on tip when they shifted tobacco products which were forbeaked by vehicles from A Van Pickup.
Saranallur Police Inspector Arun has registered a case and confiscated tobacco products that are prohibited and both vehicles.
The four captured was produced before Judges Judicial, which returned them in the custody of the judiciary at night.
The officer said the Gukta and other tobacco products were not banned from Bengaluru.
“But they are banned in our country.
Therefore, Mullaram and Govind want to sell it at a higher price here.”
