Coimbatore: Sulur Police on Monday arrested four men because illegally save 30 tons of rice ration in failing near Papampatti Pirivu here.
The police said that men planned to smuggle rice to Kerala.
The people who were arrested were identified as K Chokkalingam, 40, from Kazafavasal in Sivaga District, D Raja, 47, from Sivaganga, M Harikrishnan, 20, Kavundampalayam, and P King Pattani, 39, from Rathinapuri.
According to the police, Chokkalingam has hired a warehouse owned by Godown in Govindan in Pappampatti Pirivu a few months ago.
He collected PDS rice bags from various districts and save them in failing to smuggle them to Kerala.
Based on the tip, the police carried out a surprise attack at The failure and found a rice bag.
Immediately, the police arrested the people and caught the rice bag and a truck belonging to them.
The defendant was then handed over to the Civil Civil inventory police for further investigation into another incident, the Madukkarai Supply Officer Taluk P Ramesh Kumar and Special Inspector of Sasikumar and their team conducted an examination at Kumittipathi, Valukkal, Ettimada, KG Chavadi, and Madukkarai Area, and Madukkarai, and Madukkarai.
They visited the Madukkarai train station where officials found 25 bags containing around 600 kg of PDS rice.
The rice bag is stored on a platform.
Officials confirmed that the bag was smuggled to Kerala.
After seeing officials, five were accused, including a woman, managed to escape from the place.
The rice bag was confiscated and stored in the Madukkarai Taluk Office.
