Chennai: Taiwan’s electronic giant Foxconn has told the Tamil Nadu government that it will continue production at the “Immediate” Sripipududur plant.
The operation was suspended last week because workers protested their working conditions and lives.
The solution attended a meeting between government officials and company management on Thursday.
As a statement issued by the government on Saturday, senior officials including Krishnan, the Head of the Additional Industry Secretary, and P Thamarikannan, Director General of Police additional, met with senior management of Foxconn on Thursday and “suggested” them to improve the condition of the life and accommodation of employees.
The government also asked the company to improve hostel infrastructure, further added that this facility will be subject to certification by district collectors.
Officials asked the company to cook and provide food at the employee residence.
Foxconn has reportedly convinced the government that it will provide standard food and other quality facilities to 15,000 employees through contractors, and will also offer new job opportunities to support expansion.
