Paris: French government spokesman Gabriel Attal said on Wednesday that the government hoped to see around 4,000 patients in intensive care with Covid-19 by the Christmas holiday.
He also said at a press conference that the Omicron variant did not seem to be, at this stage, to cause a more severe form of disease than the Delta variant.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health has registered 2,792 Covid-19 patients in intensive care wards.
