Free Bihar Government to have Caste Census: Deputy CM

Patna: Deputy CM and Senior BJP leader Renu Devi on Saturday said the Bihar government, such as Karnataka, was free to conduct a caste-based census in the state.
The Government of Karnataka has conducted ‘socio-economic and educational surveys’, which is mentioned about the percentage of the population of different castees in that state, in 2015.
Speaking with the company on the sidelines of ‘Sahyog’ programs held at the BJP Office of the country here, The CM representative, however, makes it clear that the center will not accept proposals for caste-based census in this country.
“This is a central policy decision not to do a caste census,” he said.
Renu’s statement was almost no hours after the office of the minister’s chairman received recognition from PMO in the letter CM Nitish Kumar written on August 4, looking for promises PM Narendra Modi to discuss the problem of Caste Census.
On Friday, opposition leader at the Tejashwi Prasad Yadav State Assembly has accused PM to ignore Nitish by not replying to his letter.
Nitish has convinced state leaders, including Tejashwi, to meet PM to discuss controversial problems when they met him in his office at the State Assembly place during the Monsun Assembly session in July.
On Friday, Tejashwi has also written a letter to PM, demanding a caste-based census in 2021 for “fair reservation distribution and other benefits for the OBC category”.
Meanwhile, the former Head of CM and Human Rights (S) Jitan Ram Manjhi urged the Bihar government to conduct a caste-based census in their own country.
Previously, the Maharashtra government had submitted a similar request, the sources at BJP said.
