Thiruvananthapuram: Chairman of Pinarayi Vijayan’s minister marks a free bus service for female fish vendors in the district here on Saturday.
This project is carried out together by KSRTC and the Department of Fisheries.
The minister for transportation Antony Raju who was present on the occasion said that the number of buses under the ocean scheme would increase.
“The route will be resolved based on the comfort of a fish vendor.
The Department of Fisheries pays KSRTC a number of Rs 24 lakh per year for one bus,” Raju said.
The minister said that KSRTC plans to launch a mobile Ransum store in relation to Civil Supply Corporation.
Minister of Fisheries Saji Cherian said that the difficulties faced by fish vendors and travel misery would be handled through this business.
KSRTC has deployed three low floor buses for this project.
The bus will operate starting at 6am to 10 in the morning from fishing ports to various markets.
A bus has the capacity to carry 24 passengers.
The platform roll to load fish baskets, doors operated drivers that can be monitored by cameras, music systems, rear cameras, collection tanks to store salt water are the main features of the ocean bus.
Cherian said that 20,000 houses will be built in the coastal sector in addition to houses built under the mission of life.
“Seafood restaurants will be opened in all districts.
Building construction work for seafood restaurants is currently underway in Vizhinjam,” he said.
