Mumbai: Bombay Hospital in Lines Marine will be the first private hospital in the city to provide free vaccination for all from Friday.
Left with nearly 17,000 doses of vaccines, hospitals have been tied with LIC HFL and NGO Golden Jam Foundation to fund doses.
The hospital will only provide a dose of covishield and people can come for the first and second shots.
Until now, private hospitals only have vaccinated people living in slums for free with the help of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
“We might be the first in this country to launch vaccination for people from all levels of society at no cost.
This will be done with the contribution of two agents,” said Dr.
Gautam Bhansali from the Bombay Hospital.
The hospital will bear the costs of the RS 150 service, which means that the institutions will pay the hospital only vaccine fees.
“This will help us discuss more people,” he said.
The agent has provided Rs 50 Lakh to the hospital.
With paid vaccination witnessed a dramatic decline in demand since October, more than 45 doses of lakh lay with private hospitals in Mumbai, Thane and Pune.
Some experts have suggested that private hospitals must vaccinate free or find CSR donors so that the dosage is not wasted or a lie.
But with a decline in overall vaccination demand and the public sector also has abundant doses, private players cannot find many takers.
