Freedom Struggle HS Doreswamy dies at 103

BENGALURU: Freedom fighter H S Doreswamy passed out from Bengaluru on Wednesday.

He was 103. Among Karnataka’s final links to this freedom struggle, Doreswamy was an inspiration for generations of activists from the nation. Doreswamy had contracted Covid-19 disease on May 6 and has been treated in Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research (SJICSR) for almost a week. He had been readmitted on May 14, together with breathing difficulty and exhaustion. “The reason behind death is acute valvular heart disease, heart failure, along with the precipitating factors might be Covid and era,” explained Dr C N Manjunath, manager of SJICSR. “He’d pre existing heart disease for over a decade and suffered in the leakage of their left handed valve. He had chronic obstructive lung disorder, which he had been undergoing treatment in our clinic for over a decade,” explained Dr Manjunath. Doctors remembered that Doreswamy was at their own hospital over a dozen occasions in the past 7-8 decades, yet this time he had been incredibly philosophical. “He had been saying,’Should I inhabit this particular bed, and allow kids not be medicated. I’ve lived , why waste medications on me? He seemed to have lost his will force to recuperate,” Dr Manjunath stated. Known for his active involvement in the Quit India movement, Doreswamy’s activism continued after the state became independent. As a journalist, Doreswamy had been conducting the nationalist paper’Pouravani’ through the British Raj. He engaged in the Unification of Karnataka motion in 1950s and was in the forefront of this agitation throughout the crisis period. In addition, he affirmed the India Against Corruption movement lately. He turned into a centenarian at 2018. Speaking to TOI, activist Ravi Krishna Reddy stated that Doreswamy was his lead and a true jewel of Karnataka. “He felt in peaceful demonstration and that is exactly what I learnt . He wasn’t psychological and emphasised truth while taking any choice. We will need to celebrate his lifetime,” said Reddy. .
