PARIS: World number one Ash Barty was able to play an injury issue and stave off an upset from American Bernarda Pera using a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 triumph in her opening game of the French Open on Tuesday.
Returning into the Philippe Chatrier court following her maiden Grand Slam triumph in 2019, the 25-year-old Australian appeared to be cruising contrary to the 70th-ranked Pera if she ended up 5-2 in the opening set.
