PARIS: Third seed Aryna Sabalenka dropped from the French Open with a 4-6 6-2 0-6 third-round defeat Russian 31st seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Friday, making the women’s attraction with no top 3 seeds in the claycourt Grand Slam.
Following the leaves of Ash Barty along with Naomi Osaka, the Belarusian was the maximum seed staying this week at Paris but she neglected to maintain a leash for her unforced errors to fall into the professional 29-year-old Russian.
Sabalenka got off to a rollicking start to get a 3-0 lead but her unforced mistakes unexpectedly mounted and Pavlyuchenkova won half of their following seven matches to bag the collection.
The 23-year-old forged a flurry of champions to shoot four matches in a row to win the next group and level the game prior to Pavlyuchenkova moved off the courtroom to get medical care, returning her left thigh heavily strapped.
