Beijing: Floods in Central China continue to cause havoc in both cities and rural areas, with the authorities to say on Friday that 21 other people have been killed and the other four are gone.
Flood water rose to 3.5 meters (11.4 feet) in the city of Liulin Hubei Province following heavy rain which began on Wednesday.
The last death added more than 300 people who were killed in flooding last month in Henan Province just north.
Most of the victims were in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, where at least 292 died, including 14 trapped when the city subway system was flooded.
The new Hubei flood has been relatively small compared to, with more than 8,000 people affected, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
China regularly suffers seasonal floods, but this year is very severe with heavy rain achieving from the center of the country so far north by Beijing.
Floods came above efforts to contain the Delta Covid-19 variant outbreak which specifically affected Henan and Jiangsu East Province.
The worst flood of China in recent years was in 1998, when more than 2,000 people were killed and nearly 3 million homes were destroyed, mostly along the Maliest River China, Yangtze.
Direct losses from this summer flood are estimated at more than $ 14 billion.
