BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday opened new slots for first dose vaccination of 18-44 age group from June 15 to 19 to expedite the vaccination drive.
With the state capital still witnessing a fairly large number of Covid cases daily, the city authorities want to saturate the eligible population — around 8.50 lakh.
The new slots have been opened to facilitate the first dose recipient of Covaxin so that by July 15 all of them can be fully vaccinated.
The drive for the 18-44 age group will be opened from 9 am to 1 pm, said a BMC officer.
In the city 3,27,000 people have been fully vaccinated and more than 2.50 lakh have received their first dose.
The city on Friday reported 485 new infections against 1004 recoveries with active cases going down to 5,534.
Total Covid count so far has crossed 83,000.
The BMC enforcement squad in the north zone on Friday sealed a meat and fish shop near Infocity Square here for alleged violation of Covid protocol.
