Gurgaon: The health department is planning to ramp up Covid-19 vaccinations in the city as it is receiving a regular supply of doses.
On an average, Gurgaon is currently inoculating around 11,000 people every day, which it plans to increase to 20,000, health officials said.
“We plan to ramp up vaccination from the existing average of 11,000 daily to around 20,000.
There is no shortage of vaccines and we have been receiving a regular supply from the central government.
We vaccinated around 1.04 lakh people on Monday and then placed a request for fresh stock, which we received on Tuesday morning.
So, we will get the required doses to ramp up vaccinations,” said Dr MP Singh, district immunisation officer.
With Gurgaon receiving 16,000 more doses on Tuesday, it now has 20,000 doses, which will last for two to three days.
Health department officials said that they will receive another fresh consignment of vaccines in a day or two.
“We have 20,000 doses available, which will last for the next two to three days.
The current stock has equal proportions of Covishield and Covaxin,” Singh added.
Meanwhile, a total of 11,293 people were vaccinated in Gurgaon on Tuesday, including 9,455 in the 18-44 age group.
Out of these, 3,967 got their first doses and 530 their second doses at government healthcare facilities, while 3,742 got their first doses and 1,216 their second doses at private facilities.
Moreover, 1,774 people aged above 45 years took the shots on Tuesday, including 973 who got jabs in government facilities and 801 in private setups.
A total of 30 healthcare workers and 34 frontline workers were also vaccinated.
Vaccinations were carried out at 92 session sites set up across the city.
More than 1 lakh people had got jabs at the mega vaccination drive conducted in the city on Monday, which was held across 209 centres.
At 1,04,178, Monday’s was the highest single-day inoculations in Gurgaon.
While the health department had set a target of vaccinating 30,000 people, the huge rush of recipients at each site and availability of doses ensured the number crossed 1 lakh.
