Gurgaon: U-turn underpass on the NH8 on the Delhi-Gurgaon border, near the Ambience Mall, will be inaugurated and opened for commuter on October 15, the Union Minister for road transportation and Jalan Raya Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday.
Gadkari is in town to check the construction of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, it is said to be the longest in this country, near Lohatki Village.
He was accompanied by Minister of Haryana Manohar Minister Lal Khattar and Gurgaon MP Rao Inderdit Singh.
Speaking to the media, the minister said underpass 2.79km, which has been completed at a cost of RS 163 Crore, will provide assistance to people in Delhi and Haryana.
Working at the Underpass four lines began in January 2019, with an early 18-month deadline set for its settlement.
At present, commuters traveling from Gurgaon to the atmosphere mall have to drive away to Rajokri and then take U turn to return, add 4 km to their trip.
After opening, underpass will save time and money.
The list of “many steps” is done to reduce congestion on the toll road, said Gadkari, “construction of flyovers and underpasses at IFFCO Chowk, the signature tower of Chowk and Rajiv Chowk has been completed at a cost of Rs 500 Crore in 2019.
In Honda Chowk Heroes too, Seberang and underpass have been built at the cost of Rs 140 Crore.
“The project has also been approved on three other points on the toll road – Bilaspur, Kapdiwas and Manesar – with the cost of Rs 250 Crore, Gadkari said.
Khattar also underlined the need to create an underpass or flyover at this intersection “to provide convenience to people and reduce accidents on the highway”.
Gadkari said the work was also carried out on its “dream project” – a public transport system which was run by electricity from Dhaula Kuan in Delhi to Kherhi Daula in Gurgaon.
“We will assign economic studies and viability for that,” he added.
Similar projects are also considered for Dwarka Expressway, Gadkari said.

“We made three layers of flyovers in Pune, Chennai, Ranchi, Jamshedpur – eight paths at the bottom, the six lanes on it, the six pathway on it and Metro on it.
In Dwarka Expressway too, we tried to see what the system was Public transportation on electricity can be planned to use pods, which will make it easier to go to Delhi from Haryana.
“In 2016, while placing the foundation stone infrastructure project in the city, Gadkari has talked about the ‘Taxi Pod project’ planned to connect Delhi and Gurgaon.
So far, it hasn’t come true.
