Lucknow: Aiming to provide a field of playing levels for all candidates in the election of assembly, Lucknow District Election (DEO) has issued a level chart for services and items that a candidate can be spent in the campaign.
For example, a candidate can spend Rs 37 per plate for four poor and one sweet breakfast, and Rs 6 each for Samosa and a cup of tea.
However, mineral water bottles can be purchased at the MRP.
Likewise, candidates can buy bouquets of interest of Rs 16 per meter and rent three drummer for 1,575 per day to campaign.
District election officers have also repaired luxury car rentals with prices of Rs 21,000 per day for BMW and Mercedes, while the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV can be employed at rental prices at 12,600 per day.
Rent for SUVs such as Innova, Fortuner, Qualis has been set at Rs 2,310 per day, for Scorpio and Tavera at Rs 1,890 per day and Jeep, Bolero and Sumo at Rs 1,260 per day, including fuel costs.
Earlier this month, the Indian Election Commission (ECI) has climbed the expenditure limit for the Candidate Polling Assembly of State from Rs 28 Lakh to Rs 40 Lakh.
ECI places the expenditure limit to ensure that each individual or party can do a poll with the same footing, and there are no individuals or parties, no matter how rich and well funded, have an advantage over financial strength.
“If there is no limit on expenditure, political parties will carry out all contribution collection.
The destructive effect of big money will then play a decisive role in controlling the democratic process in the country,” ECI said.
Every contest candidate is needed to submit a actual copy of its election expenditure account with Deo within 30 days of the declaration of election results.
“Failure to submit a poll cost account in time and in a way needed by the law without reason or good justification can result in disqualification of candidates,” said an official.
