New Delhi: Indian fuel consumption showed a flat growth in December 2021 ahead of fresh restrictions that kicked to control the surge in the new Coronavirus variant which tended to reduce demand, according to official data released on Tuesday.
The consumption of petroleum products in December 2021 reached 18.43 million tons, compared with 18.36 million tons in the same month last year.
This is after the increase in demand for transportation fuel is negated by the decline in industrial fuel.
Consumption was 7.6 percent higher month to month but still 2.7 percent lower than the pre-covid level-19 of 2019, according to data released by the Cell Petroleum Planning and Oil Analysis of the Ministry of Oil (PPAC).
When the economy continues to recover from the profound impact of the second wave, the demand for fuel transportation rose in December.
Diesel, the most widely used fuel in the country for nearly 40 percent of all consumption of petroleum products, rose 1.5 percent year to year to 7.305 million tons and is near pre-covid-19 request 7,387 million tons in December 2019 .
Petrol sales, which crossed the pre-covid-19 level a few months ago, rose four percent to 2.81 million tons in December 2021.
Fuel demand, the most widely used in cars and two-wheeled, reached 2.47 million tons.
December 2019.
The increase in trips during the holiday season was said to have contributed to the increase.
With the increase in air travel, flight turbine fuel (ATF) posted a growth of 29 percent consumption to 5.52,000 tons but lower than 7.29,000 tons of gas LPG consumption fell by almost two percent to 2.4 million tons.
This is largely due to consumption in December 2020 higher behind the free cylinder given by the government to the poor for ups and downs of pandemic difficulties.
However, the request in December 2020 was higher than the pre-covid-19 level due to LPG sales in December 2019 was 2.35 million tons, data showed.
Naphtha consumption, which is used as a fuel in the industry, fell two percent to 1.18 million tons, while Petcooke’s request fell 14.8 percent.
Bitumen sales, used in road construction, fell 19 percent to 6.95,000 tons.
