Golaghat / Diphu: Assam Minister Himanta Buswa Sarma on Saturday said that the police had given “operational freedom” to deal with drug smugglers and dealers, and request “acting decisively” to revoke the threat of drugs from the community.

The confiscated contraband included 19 kg of heroin, 8,276 kg of marijuana, 14 kg opium, 67,650 bottle of cough syrup, and 1,920 kg of morphine.
In Golaghat, 1.02 kg of heroin, 1,200 kg of marijuana and 3 kg of opium was burned in a Pyre illuminated by the minister’s chairman.
In Dietu, 11.88 kg of morphine, 2.89 kg of metal crystals, 3.47 kg of heroin, and 102.91 kg of marijuana was destroyed.
Similar disposal programs are scheduled to be held in the Nagaon and Hojai districts on Sundays.
