Tokyo: The Japanese Parliament chose Monday to approve Fumio Kishida as the next state minister, with the new leader it was expected to announce the cabinet including histovers and fresh faces.
Scion oral from Hiroshima’s political family, Kishida defeated the head of the popular vaccine Taro Kono to win the leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party in power last week.
Victory effectively ensured he would win votes Monday then in parliament, where the coalition of LDP rulers held a majority, and became the third largest economic leader in the world.
Speaking before voting on Monday morning, Kishida said he was ready for the top work.
“I think it will be a new beginning in the real sense,” he told reporters.
“I want to face challenges with strong will and strong determination to face the future.” Kishida is widely regarded as a safe pair, which instructs support from its own impurity in LDP and is not expected to do significantly from existing government policies.
The election occurred after former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who handed over his resignation on Monday morning, announced he would not support LDP leadership after only one year in the office.
Kishida will reveal his new cabinet on Monday afternoon, but the details reported in local media suggest that he will continue to continue in several ministers in the main portfolio.
Second Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi will maintain their work, report local media.
Motegi is a political veteran that was educated by Harvard who had led in negotiating the main trade transaction, while Kishi was the brother of the former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The financial portfolio will go to Shunichi Suzuki, who replaces his brother-in-law Taro Aso.
Suzuki, 68, is also a veteran politician and former prime minister’s son.
He has served in the previous government, holding a post of Olympic ministers and the environmental environment.
The cabinet will be reported to cover three women, including a one-time rival for Seiko Noda’s leadership, which will be the minister responsible for dealing with the decline in the birth of Japan.
Posting the Minister of Vaccine and the minister of digital will also be held by women, with several cabinet members appointed to post their first ministerial level.
Kishida faces a challenge raft, from trying to direct post-pandemic economic recovery to face military threats caused by North Korea and China.
He will also lead LDP in general elections that must occur in November.
Local media reported Monday that Kishida is now expected to hold voting on October 31, a few weeks earlier than expected.
The ruling party and the coalis party are widely expected to maintain power, but can be vulnerable to losing several seats with the public who are not happy with the government’s response to Coronavirus.
The Government of Suga saw its approval rating slumping because it struggled to overcome the wave of infection, including a surge in virus record during the summer while the Olympics were detained.
Kishida’s leadership campaign emphasized the plan to correct government steps in pandemic, including appointments to release new economic stimulus.
Many of Japan have been under the emergency steps of the virus for the most part this year, with restrictions finally raised last week as a new infection declining.
About 60 percent of the population is now vaccinated, there are fears that the state health care system can easily be overwhelmed again in a new wave of viruses.
