Gurugram: The Haryana Ministry of Health has asked all schools and universities in the state to provide details about the vaccination status of their staff members.
Medical officers have been asked to get data from institutions until August 25.
The instruction came a day after ACS (Health) Rajeev Arora directing all districts to ensure that all staff at the teaching agency were given easy access to vaccination.
Arora, however, clarified that while staff would be encouraged to be fully vaccinated earlier, there would be no imposition of anyone and it would not be a prerequisite for joining work in the school or university campus.
“This is a voluntary affair.
We try to facilitate the vaccination process by preparing more camps near educational institutions,” he told toi.
Chief Gurugram Medical Officer Virender Yadav said the Ministry of Education was told about this step.
“The camp will be regulated according to the data collected by medical officers,” he added.
The Ministry of Health said while sharing data, schools and universities can categorize their staff members into three categories – they are fully vaccinated, those who have taken the first dose and caused by their second shots, and those who have not been vaccinated.
This will help health officials establish camps close to the institution so it’s convenient for the staff to be affixed.
Some schools such as Suncity in Sector 54 told TII that if the teaching staff or non-teaching delayed getting their shots, they must produce negative antigen test reports and their health status will be checked regularly on the Aarogya Setu application.
“We plan to reopen school in October.
Except for a few people, everyone is fully vaccinated.
We have offered to bear the vaccination costs for our staff.
I am sure they will all immediately take Jab,” said Chakravarty Suncity School Principal.
However, others like Ryan International School at Sohna Road and Lotus Valley School said they had made mandatory vaccination even before the government asked all the institutes to provide details.
“We have asked our staff to take vaccines.
CBSE has given school time until July 22 to send vaccination data online and urge them to encourage vaccination among staff.
Senior class in schools we return to campus and all preventive measures occur,” said Ryan International Principal Peeya Sharma.
Likewise, Lotus Valley Principal Anita Malhotra said that everyone at school was asked to be fully vaccinated.
“This is mandatory.
Those who have not been vaccinated are being monitored through Aarogya Setu but have been told to get their earliest shots.
In the long run, everyone needs a vaccine because there are no other alternatives,” he added.
