NEW DELHI: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi within the reforms from Lakshadweep alleging the future of these inhabitants of this island has been endangered as the secretary has unilaterally suggested sweeping changes without consulting chosen representatives.
At a three-page correspondence into Modi on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi stated,”Lakshadweep’s pristine all-natural beauty and its own distinctive confluence of civilizations have attracted people for centuries.
Even the custodians of its legacy attempt to protect the archipelago for posterity.
“But, their potential is jeopardized from the anti-people policies declared by the secretary of Lakshadweep, Praful Khoda Patel.
The secretary has unilaterally suggested sweeping changes without consulting chosen representatives or the general public.
Individuals of Lakshadweep are discriminated from those random activities,” he explained.
Patel was appointed Administrator of Lakshadweep Islands at December 2020.
Patel, a former Gujarat Home Minister, initially shot to the limelight following Mohan Delkar, the Lok Sabha MP of Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu, committed suicide at a Mumbai hotel on February 22.
Afterward, the Maharashtra police had reserved the UT Administrator at March.
The Congress leader said that the manager’s effort to undermine the environmental sanctity of this island is evident from the draft Lakshadweep Development Authority Regulation issued lately.
“The provisions include protects pertaining to property possession, dilute environmental regulations for particular activities and seriously restrict legal recourse open to affected individuals.
Livelihood security and sustainable growth have been sacrificed for short-term industrial earnings,” explained that the Congress Lok Sabha MP in Kerala’s Wayanad.
He explained that the supply in the draft Panchayat Legislation that disqualifies members with over two kids is intentionally”anti-democratic”.
In addition, he explained that additionally, suggested changes to legislation such as Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Legislation, the Lakshadweep Animals Preservation Legislation and lifting of constraints on selling of alcohol are an”willful attack” about the”cultural and spiritual” material of their neighborhood community.
“The effort to decrease ties with Beypore port strikes in the close cultural and historical ties with Kerala,” the Congress leader said.
