New Delhi: India in 2020-21 produced 308 million tons of all-time food ingredients, which was 3.7% higher than the output in the previous year, the Ministry of Agriculture said on Wednesday.
He noted that all major plants in the basket of food (rice, wheat, corn, and grams) and outseds recorded output in the year of harvest.
Grain oil output records an increase of more than 9% and pulse output records an increase of more than 8%, synchronous with the government’s priority to focus on this plant.
Releasing the fourth estimated face of the production of major agricultural crops for 2020-21 (July-June cycle), the Ministry said food production was more than 11 million tons (MT) higher than the output in 2019-20 and almost 30 MT higher than five years ( 2015-16 to 2019-20) Production of average grasslands.
In the output estimation cycle, the fourth estimation is considered close to the latter which can be released in the next few months.
Previously in May, the Ministry had estimated 305 MT food garden output through the third estimation.
India has produced 297 MT FoodGrains in 2019-20.
Higher production can be attributed to good monsoon rain last year when farmers recorded a higher area despite the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic.
“Grassland food is being produced because of the hard work of farmers, skills of scientists and agriculture and government farmer-friendly policies,” Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said.
In accordance with the fourth estimation, rice production was pegged at 122 MT in 2020-21 as against around 119 MT in the previous year.
