G20 makes commitment to climate neutrality, coal financing
Written by news2in

Rome: The world’s largest economic leaders make a compromise commitment on Sundays to achieve carbon neutrality “by or around the middle of the century” when they wrap the two-day summit which laid the foundation for the UN climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland.
According to the last communique, the group of 20 leaders also agreed to end public financing for coal power plants abroad, but did not set a target to remove coal domestically – a clear nod to the top of Chinese and Indian carbon.
The group of 20 countries, which represents more than three quarters of world greenhouse gas emissions, have been looking for a common common ground and commitment to reduce emissions while helping poor countries dealing with the impact of increasing temperatures.
Without them, momentum can be lost due to greater annual talks in Glasgow which is officially opened by weeks and where countries from all over the world will be represented, including the poor people who are most vulnerable to ice, desertification and other effects.
