Rome: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the results of the G20 Summit here as “fruitful” and said world leaders have complicated deliberations about important global problems such as fighting pandemics, increasing economic infrastructure, increasing economic cooperation and innovation.
The leaders of the G-20 during the two-day summit they concluded on Sunday, adopted the ‘Rome Declaration’ which gave a very strong message under the health section with the countries agreed that Covid-19 immunization was the global public goodness.
Commenting on the results of the Summit, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said: “It is not easy to reach this agreement, it is success.
Over the past few years, the # G20 capacity to work together has been reduced, but something changed in this summit: # G20 countries once again able to overcome the global challenges together.
“Under the # G20Ity Presidency, we reform the international tax system, overcome health protectionism, ensuring more vaccines for the poorest in the world, put the foundation for a fairer recovery, and find new ways to Support the poorest in the world, “Draghi tweeted.
The leaders of the G-20 have agreed that the World Health Organization will be strengthened to track fast processes for emergency use authorization for Covid-19 vaccine, G-20 Sherpa Piymus Goyal on Sunday.
Noting that the energy and climate is the discussion center in the G-20, Goyal said India and many other developing countries encourage to maintain the interests of developing countries.
“We also join developed countries to increase the ambition from the current level of commitment and active interest that developed countries have shown in terms of providing affordable technology and finance,” he said.
“We truly entered the language text that confirmed that developed countries have recognized that they have not done enough in terms of fulfilling their commitment and that they must be more advanced in providing finance in providing technology and (becoming) enabler to transition to the world of energy Clean in the future, “he said.
Goyal said it was also decided that the recognition of the Covid vaccine which was considered safe and efficacious by WHO would be accepted together to submit to the national law and the privacy of the countries.
Reacting to the G20 declaration, Director General of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreesus noted that the G20Romesummit declaration recognized who the central role was in a ongoing response to the Covid19 crisis and in protecting the world of future pandemics.
“The vaccine will help end the # Covid19 pandemic, but the ultimate vaccine of the pandemic and all health threats is leadership.
The world needs @ G20org Leadership, now more than before,” he tweeted.
“I thank the leaders of the G20org to agree to improve global actions to ensure #vaccinquity by meeting vaccination targets in all countries,” he said in other tweets.
“To help advance towards global purposes to vaccinate at least 40 percent of the population in all countries at the end of 2021 and 70 percent in mid 2022, as recommended by the global vaccination strategy of the World Health Organization (WHO), we will take steps to help improve Supply of vaccines and essential medical products and input in developing countries and remove relevant obstacles and financing constraints, “the G20 leaders said in their declaration on Sunday.
But the Head of WHO said “an urgent and unprecedented actions” needed now by countries that produce vaccines against deadly pandemics.
According to Johns Hopkins University Covid-19 Tracker, more than 246,713,600 cases were confirmed and more than 4,999,900 deaths had been reported from all over the world.
