New Delhi: After his no-show in the latest collection of elections, Veteran Congress and the leader of ‘G23’ Ghulam Prophet Azad has been named in the party’s “star campaigner” list for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly poll.
Azad was removed from the list of campaigns for West Bengal, Kerala and Assam who went to last year’s election, where the party suffered the defeat of humiliation.
Azad was the leader of the senior group of Congress who wrote a letter to the President of the Party Sonia Gandhi looking for a sweeping reform at the party.
The block is then known as ‘G23’, which has faced strong criticism of party loyalists.
Incidentally, Azad was abandoned from the campaign in Assam, Bengal and Kerala who had a high concentration of minority voters, a point highlighted by his supporters after the general election for Congress.
Azad’s negligence came after “praise” reported for Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the rally at Jammu, which he discussed after his retirement from Rajya Sabha.
Azad then denied praising modi.
Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who is also a letter writer, also the numbers in the campaigner list.
