Gadkari BATS for 6 airbags in the car as mandatory

New Delhi: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday emphasized the Flex-Fuel (FFV) roll-out vehicle in the Indian car market within one year.
Gadkari also appealed to vehicle manufacturers to be required to provide a minimum of six airbags in all variants and vehicle segments.

Stressing on the need for fast roll-out Flex-Fuel (FFVS) vehicles capable of running at 100% ethanol and gasoline to Indian automatic markets within one year,” Word of the Minister in Tweet.
“For the sake of passenger safety, I also keep all private vehicle manufacturers to mandate providing a minimum of 6 airbags in all variants and vehicle segments,” he added.
According to an official statement, the Minister met with the CEO delegation of the Society of India Automobile (Siam) manufacturer consisting of private, commercial and two-wheeled car manufacturers.
“This delegation presents an update of the automotive industry status and requests emissions-based regulations such as BS-6 Phase 2, Cafè Phase 2, among others, such as OBD regulations for two wheels,” said the statement.
According to the statement, the Minister congratulated OEM to perform well on the front of the vehicle engineering.
